Hi folks! Life is not all about studying all the time. MSU has a rich culture of celebrating the colors of a variety of traditions from around the world. PSA contributes to this effort by organizing events that provide opportunities to share the pleasures and to take a break between the heavy workloads and studies:
· PSA Eid Banquets
Eid-u-fitr and Eid-ul-Adha are celebrated by Muslims as per the Islamic traditions and values all over the world. Pakistani Student Association arranges two community dinners and Eid festival celebrations every year. Not only Pakistani students and community, but MSU Faculty, local and international students, and their families are also invited to share the pleasure and fun. Special attractions of these two events are Henna tattoos, singing, and Pakistani food.
· Pakistan Independence Day
Every year Pakistani student association arranges a special event on August 14 to celebrate the anniversary of independence of Pakistan. Families, students and kids perform, sing and eat together. Small souvenirs and gifts are distributed among participants.
· PSA Movie / Game Night
This is a random event that is organized by the PSA members. All are invited to come and watch a movie or a game together. This year the biggest event was Semi-final Match of Cricket World Cup when Pakistani and Indian students enjoyed the game together.
· Regular Sports, Bowling and Pool Night
Pakistani students regularly play cricket, football, volley ball, badminton, and tennis. Messages are spread via email and facebook when and where they are playing. It is an open invitation for all to come and join. MSU has provided many facilities on campus for students, one of which is bowling and pool at MSU Union. Pakistani Student Association invites all to share the excitement and lessen the burden of studies at least once or twice a semester.
· Spring Festival
Spring is welcomed around the world with a special feel and thrill. Pakistani student association arranges a special event somewhere outdoors where people can enjoy the fresh feel of the spring. Special attractions of this event are kite flying and international food made fresh and shared by all.
· Global Festival
Global Festival is a regular event at MSU. It is celebrated each year in the fall semester at MSU Union. Pakistani Students participate in the celebrations by arranging a cultural representation in the form of an exhibit and also as in singing and performing. This is an exclusive event that brings together all the cultures under one roof.
· Sight-seeing Trips
There are three trips arranged around the year, once in each semester. Different states and cities of US have their unique life-style and heritage to share with all. These trips provide an opportunity for the students to go around and see the beauty of various landscapes and to learn more about historical values of various places around US.
· Summer BBQ and Picnics
Summer semester is relatively less busy than the rest of the year and the weather is superb in East Lansing and surroundings to gather around in the open air and enjoy the BBQ with friends and families around.
· General Body Meetings
General Body meeting is arranged once a semester to share the ideas for further planning. This is a forum to identify problems and challenges faced by the PSA members and to suggest suitable solutions. General body meeting is also an opportunity to meet up and have some fun and food together.Pakistani Students Association (PSA) aims to keep its rich cultural heritage alive and enrich the already diverse atmosphere at Michigan State University. ---------
